8 Easy Step to Clean Car Engines

Keeping your car engine clean is essential for maintaining its optimal performance and longevity. However, engine cleaning can seem intimidating, especially if you’re not familiar with the process. In this blog, we’ll guide you through the steps on how to properly clean a car engine.

BEFORE START

Before you begin, it’s important to note that you should never clean a hot engine, as the heat could cause the cleaning products to evaporate too quickly, leaving behind residue. Wait until the engine has cooled down completely before you start.

1st. Step

Protect Sensitive Components

First, cover any sensitive components that could be damaged by water, such as the alternator, distributor, and air intake. You can use plastic bags and tape to cover these parts securely. If you’re not sure which parts to cover, consult your car’s manual or a professional mechanic. It may be wise to disconnect your battery as well.

2nd Step

Remove Loose Debris

Use a medium- to soft-bristled brush or compressed air to remove any loose debris and dirt from the engine bay, such as leave, twigs, and buildup. Be careful not to hit any covered parts or electrical components.

Dry the Engine
