MaxShine Graphene Ceramic Coating GC-01

Ceramic Coating is easier than you think.

Ceramic coating is a popular method for protecting a car's paint and keeping it looking like new. It creates a barrier on the surface of the car that repels dirt, grime, and other contaminants, making it easier to clean and maintain.

If you're considering MaxShine Graphene Ceramic Coating to protect your car, it's important to understand the proper steps to ensure the best results.

1.
Preparing The Surface

The first step in ceramic coating a car is to thoroughly clean and prepare the surface. This includes washing the car and clay bar decontamination.  Polishing the paint to remove any swirls or scratches is highly recommended, though not necessary, since ceramic coating won’t hide any paint imperfections. All of this, plus a pass of prep spray, will create a clean and smooth surface for the ceramic coating to bond to.

2.
Applying The Ceramic Coating

Once the surface is properly prepared, the ceramic coating can be applied. It is important to apply the coating in a controlled environment, such as a garage or covered area, to avoid dust or other contaminants settling on the paint while the coating is drying. The ceramic coating should be applied using a foam or microfiber applicator, and it is important to apply it in thin, even coats.

Prime Applicator

The first time the applicator is used it needs to be primed for optimum application. To do this apply a bit more than average with all following applications only needing a few drops.

Application Technique

To achieve ideal coating work in sections around the car. Per section, apply the coating in a cross-hatch pattern, back and forth horizontally, then up and down vertically over the same work area.

3.
Flash, Level, and Buff

When ceramic coating is ready to be leveled it will “flash” creating a rainbow effect. At this time gently wipe down the work area with a clean, lower pile (300-400GSM microfiber towel to level the coating. Then do a second pass with a clean, higher pile (500-600GSM) microfiber towel to buff the area. Some detailers choose to only do one pass and level with the higher pile microfiber towel.

4.
Check Your Work

One possible result from improper application is high spots, which are visible areas where the coating isn’t even. If noticed within a couple hours after initial application, one method that may fix the issue is to reapply the ceramic coating over the high spot area to reactivate it, allowing for another attempt at leveling. If this doesn’t correct the area then a 2-step polishing process is needed in order to “cut” away the uneven coating, polish the affected area back to its ideal condition, prep the surface, and start the coating process again.

5.
Rinse, Repeat, Cure

Continuing working in sections, repeat the ceramic coating process throughout the rest of the car. After the ceramic coating has been applied, it needs to cure before the car can be driven or exposed to the elements. The curing time will vary depending on the product used, but MaxShine’s Graphene Ceramic Coating requires at least 24 hours.

Maintenance

To maintain ceramic coating, regular washing and detailing is required and it's also important to avoid using harsh detergents or chemicals that could damage the coating. A pH neutral soap is recommended as is a ceramic boost spray.

In Conclusion

Ceramic coating is a great way to protect your car's paint and keep it looking like new. By following these proper steps, you can ensure that your car's ceramic coating is applied correctly and will provide maximum protection. Remember that ceramic coating is not a permanent solution and will require maintenance and re-application to keep the car looking new.
